Glenn Davisis a small businessman, entrepreneur, and city councilman who has been recognized as one of Virginia Beach’s key community leaders. His record of public service has been one of opening Virginia Beach for business, creating the right environment for job creation and keeping government accountable.
Entrepreneur and Community Leader
An entrepreneur who has given back to the city he loves, Glenn literally started his first business in his apartment. Since then, he has been honored by Inside Business Magazine in 2006 as one of the region’s “40 Under 40” top business leaders, he was also awarded the Entrepreneurial Excellence Award in 2010 by the Regent University School of Global Leadership and Entrepreneurship. Glenn knows that small businesses entrepreneurs create over 2/3rds of all new jobs in the United States, because he is one. Glenn is a graduate of the EO/MIT Entrepreneurial Masters Program and is a member of the Entrepreneur’s Organization of Southeast Virginia, where he is a former organization president.
A graduate of Green Run High School, Glenn quickly realized there was no other place in America he wanted to call home. Glenn began his telecommunications career in Virginia Beach in the 1990s and started his own telecommunications management firm in 1999. In 2002, he merged with his present business partner to create Comverge, Inc., which was named to the “Rising 25” of growing small businesses by the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and the Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development. In addition, Inc. 5000 recognized the firm twice for its many successes and corporate growth. Glenn later acquired Geeks on Call, a national IT franchise brand focused on residential customers and turned the business around by rolling out business related products and services launching the brand into the business solutions market. Glenn has also provided consulting and mentorship to other entrepreneurs and businesses.
As a small businessman, Glenn knows how important it is to set goals, balance a budget, and live within our means. That same “business sense” is what he brought to his career in public service.
Public Service and Government Accountability
Glenn believes in public service and worked in the General Assembly as legislative aide to Gov. Bob McDonnell and Sen. Frank Wagner when they each served in the Virginia House of Delegates. In 2008, Virginia Beach voters elected Glenn to serve as a Virginia Beach City Councilman, where he focused on job creation and government accountability. Four years later, the voters of Virginia Beach rewarded Glenn’s common-sense, conservative leadership and re-elected Glenn in a landslide.
Giving Back to the Community
Virginia Beach has been good to Glenn and he has consistently given back to the city he loves, routinely volunteering throughout the community. He serves as the Chairman of Junior Achievement of Greater Hampton Roads, is a member of the Virginia Beach Rotary, and serves on the Board of Directors of Green Run Collegiate. Glenn and his wife, Chelle, have been active in the Republican Party and have served in various capacities for years helping elect Republican candidates. Although they share a common bond of conservative principles and volunteerism, they do admit to rooting for different football teams.
